Frontières\, murs et barrière s: vers un nouvel agenda de recherche CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION:PROGRAMME ICI\n\n\nL’Observatoire de géopolitique de la Chai re Raoul-Dandurand de l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) organ ise\, en collaboration avec l’Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah de F ès\, la 7e édition de son colloque biennal\, intitulée «Qui a besoin d ’un mur frontalier ? Frontières\, murs et barrières: vers un nouvel ag enda de recherche»\, qui se tiendra à Montréal les 17\, 24 avril et 8-9 mai 2025.\n\n\nLe monde a évolué de manière spectaculaire au cours de la dernière décennie en raison de divers facteurs\, notamment les tensio ns géopolitiques\, le changement climatique\, les schémas migratoires et la montée du populisme et du trumpisme. Cette conférence vise à réév aluer la dynamique de la fortification des frontières\, en dépassant les points de vue traditionnels et en mettant l’accent sur les processus de désécurisation. Nous visons à faciliter des discussions approfondies d ans les études sur les murs frontaliers et à favoriser un réseau inclus if et multidisciplinaire. Nous accueillons des propositions créatives et des recherches originales\, en privilégiant les approches novatrices et l es nouvelles orientations dans les études sur les frontières.\n\n\nLa co nférence propose d'explorer les dynamiques accélérant la fortification des frontières et son impact\, notamment à travers la technologisation e t l’intelligence artificielle. L'objectif est également d'interroger le rôle des murs frontaliers dans la (dé)sécurisation\, leurs effets envi ronnementaux et sanitaires\, ainsi que l’influence des technologies de d onnées sur les politiques migratoires. L’analyse portera aussi sur les représentations médiatiques\, la légitimation des récits et l’intég ration de perspectives non occidentales. Enfin\, il s'agira de réfléchir sur la collaboration entre chercheur-e-s\, activistes et décideur-euse-s pour une justice frontalière\, tout en repensant la matérialité des fr ontières et les logiques extractives des recherches.\n\n\nNous entendons améliorer notre compréhension des murs frontaliers dans un contexte nati onal\, régional et international en mobilisant l’analyse multiscalaire de manière innovante. \n\n\n \n\n\nPROGRAM HERE\n\n\nThe Observatoire de géopolitique of the Chaire Raoul-Dandurand at the Université du Q uébec à Montréal (UQAM)\, in collaboration with Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdel lah University in Fez\, is organizing the 7th edition of its biennial con ference\, titled \"Who Needs a Border Wall? Borders\, Walls\, and Barrier s: Toward a New Research Agenda\"\, which will take place in Montreal on April 17\, 24\, and May 8-9\, 2025.\n\n\nOver the past decade\, the world has undergone profound transformations due to various factors\, including  geopolitical tensions\, climate change\, migration patterns\, and the ri se of populism and Trumpism. This conference aims to reassess the dynamics of border fortification by moving beyond traditional perspectives and foc using on de-securitization processes. We seek to foster in-depth discussi ons in border wall studies and to promote an inclusive and multidiscipl inary network. We welcome creative proposals and original research\, emph asizing innovative approaches and new directions in border studies.\n\n\n The conference will explore the dynamics accelerating border fortificatio n and its impact\, particularly through technologization and artificial i ntelligence. It will examine the role of border walls in (de)securitizati on\, their environmental and health effects\, and the influence of data te chnologies on migration policies. The analysis will also focus on media r epresentations\, the legitimization of narratives\, and the integration of non-Western perspectives.
