Conférencier: David Mutch (University of Guelph)

Dr. Mutch’s seminar will provide attendees with an overview of the relationships between omega-3 fatty acids and delta-6 desaturase on white adipose tissue function and obesity-related comorbidities. Specifically, recent cell and mouse work from his lab will be highlighted, demonstrating a new role of the delta-6 desaturase on triacylglycerol-fatty acid cycling in adipocytes. Additionally, how the relationships between delta-6 desaturase activity and cardiometabolic risks are modified by diet and genetic variation in humans will be presented.
