Résumé/Abstract: I will review the close relationship between the theories of quotients in symplectic and algebraic geometries, and present new results in that direction. In particular, I will explain how Nahm’s equations, a system of non-linear ODEs extracted from the self-dual Yang-Mills equations, produce non-trivial examples of this relationship.
